  • Find a good family law attorney in your area, have a meeting with them BEFORE any physical separation;

  • Sit down with your spouse and attempt to come up with an agreement on your own. Take it to a notary public and both of you sign it in front of the notary;

  • Keep the kids in your physical control;

  • Think of a few negative points about yourself;

  • Let someone very close to you know what is happening and keep them up to date. But do not reveal any confidential information regarding your case. People love to talk!
